Meghan Markle is set to launch a podcast series later this summer, more than a year after she and Prince Harry signed a “millions of pounds” deal to produce content.

The couple, aged 40 and 37 respectively, signed an exclusive deal with audio streaming service Spotify in 2020, with a reported value of around £18 million.

At the time, it was announced that the deal would include podcasts on the platform, through their “first audio production company,” called Archewell Audio.

So far there’s only been one “holiday special” – featuring the two of them – launched by the couple shortly after the deal went public around Christmas 2020.

However, it has been confirmed that the Duchess of Sussex will be launching a podcast series on Spotify later this summer, as reported by outlets including Hi recent magazine.

The couple’s Archewell Foundation opened up about their conversations with the streaming service in a statement released to the media as part of the announcement.

In a statement, their foundation said: “As we all continue to deal with the age of misinformation, Archewell Audio recognizes it is important to work with our partners at Spotify to ensuring that the digital technologies many of us use every day are rooted in strong principles of trust and safety.”

This is said to be geared towards policies, practices and strategies “to raise awareness among creators, reduce the spread of misinformation, and support transparency.”

It concluded: “As we move forward at Archewell Audio, we also aspire to be responsible stewards of the well-resourced audio scene with quality, fact-based information – especially especially when it comes to public health.”

The news comes just months after the couple – parents of son Archie, two, and nine-month-old daughter Lilibet – expressed concern about misinformation.

In a statement released in January, it was said that it had “expressed concerns” to Spotify about misinformation on the platform during the Covid-19 pandemic.

However, they expressed hope that the platform would introduce changes to address this, adding that they were “committed to continuing” the partnership.

Mirror has approached Meghan and Harry’s representatives.
