Meissner Filtration Products Limited Ireland, a subsidiary of the medical technology company headquartered in Castlebar, Co. Mayo, plans to invest US$100 million (€95 million) and create 250 jobs.
The Company announced plans for the significant investment in planning documents submitted to Mayo County Council late last month.
According to the planning documents, the $100 million investment is part of planned expansion plans over the next four years. It hopes to create around 250 jobs and consolidate its existing 200 employees.
In late April, Meissner applied for the construction of a large two and three storey office and warehouse building at the IDA Castlebar Business and Technology Park. The Company operates a manufacturing facility there where it manufactures products for its biopharmaceutical and pharmaceutical customer base.
The proposed development also includes warehousing, packaging, shipping and receiving areas and 215 parking spaces.
Meissner announced plans to open its Castlebar manufacturing facility in 2019, creating over 150 jobs over five years. The facility opened in 2020.
On Meissner’s website, the company said additional land secured with the original building purchase would allow for “future expansion plans.”
It added that the groundwork for this expansion is “planned to begin later this year.”
When Meissner launched in Ireland in 2019, the company’s chief executive, Christopher Meissner, said that after an “extensive search” it chose Ireland for its first European manufacturing facility.
Founded in 1984, the company has a manufacturing campus in Camarillo, California, a European logistics center outside of Frankfurt, Germany, and multiple sales and support offices around the world.
Initial activities at the Castlebar facility will include SUS manufacturing, quality and regulation, engineering and after sales services.
At the time of writing, Meissner had not responded to a request for comment.
