Met Éireann forecasts another wet day with some bright spells

Today will be a mostly wet day across the country with some clear conditions this afternoon, Met Éireann has forecast.

The forecaster said rain in the west will spread east this morning, reaching the east coast by midday and clearing up to sunny spells in the west by the afternoon.

In the eastern areas, the rain will continue into the evening. Southerly winds will increase fresh to strong with the rain and turn northwest with clearance. The highest temperatures are between 13 °C and 15 °C.

Tonight it will be mostly dry and clear with low temperatures between 3 °C and 6 °C with mostly light westerly winds, at times fresher in the north and northwest with some rain showers there, possibly heavy or thunderstorms near the coast.

Monday will be mostly dry and sunny with only isolated showers on the north coast with maximum temperatures between 11°C and 15°C with a light westerly breeze.

On Monday evening it will be cloudy, with light rain and drizzle along the coasts.

The lowest temperatures are between 4 °C and 8 °C, coolest in the south of the country with a light south-west breeze.

Tuesday will be mostly dry with sunny spells for much of the day, thicker clouds in the west in the afternoon bring rain and drizzle later.

Highest temperatures range between 12°C and 14°C, with light to moderate southerly winds picking up along the Atlantic coast as the evening progresses.

During the night of Tuesday, the rain will spread to the east, with occasional heavy falls possible. The lowest temperatures are between 8 °C and 10 °C with moderate south-west winds, fresher near the coast.

Wednesday morning rain will clear eastwards into early afternoon, followed by sunshine and showers.

The highest temperatures are between 12 °C and 14 °C with light to moderate southerly winds that turn into a north-westerly breeze with the clearing rain.

Thursday is currently expected to start dry, then a stronger south-easterly wind will bring rain, which is at times strong in the west and north.

Here, too, the wind will turn to the west when the rain later turns into heavy showers from the west.
