Met Éireann: Isolated showers and thunderstorms are expected in some locations today

Met Éireann said scattered showers, some heavy, and thunderstorms are expected in places today.

Neat showers with sunny spells will develop to start the day. Met Éireann said the showers would spread throughout the morning and intensify throughout the day, with the possibility of patchy thunderstorms. Maximum temperatures of 12 to 15 degrees are predicted.

Early this morning the showers will taper off and will gradually become isolated and mostly limited to western and northern parts. Elsewhere it will be largely dry with long clear periods and low temperatures of 5 to 8 degrees.

Met Éireann said tomorrow will be a scattered showers day with good sunshine and only the possibility of occasional heavy showers. Towards evening clouds will move in from the west, with rain and drizzle occurring in the Atlantic coastal regions. Maximum temperatures of 13 to 16 degrees are expected.

Tuesday night will be mild, humid and cloudy or overcast with light showers and drizzle spreading east across the country. Temperatures will not drop below 8 to 10 degrees.

Met Éireann said Wednesday’s start to the day will be generally cloudy and windy, with rain and drizzle clearing eastwards as the morning progresses. Sunny spells and occasional light showers follow with maximum temperatures of 13 degrees in the north-west to 17 degrees in the south-east.

Light rain and drizzle initially along the Atlantic coast on Wednesday night, otherwise mostly dry with clear spells. Overnight it will become cloudier from the west, followed by rain most persistent over the northern half of the country. Lowest temperatures of 7 to 10 degrees are forecast.

Met Éireann said Thursday morning will see a dull and wet start, with rain over much of the country, heaviest and most persistent over the north. The rain will move eastwards later in the afternoon with sunny spells and good isolated showers. Maximum temperatures of 13 to 18 degrees are expected.

It will be mostly dry on Friday, with the best sunshine in the north and east of the country. It will become cloudier further south and west with a chance of occasional drizzle, with highs of 16 to 19 degrees generally, slightly cooler in parts of the north, with light breezes.

“Current indications are that high pressure will build up across the country bringing mostly dry conditions with only a few erupting showers. It will also be milder, with maximum temperatures well into the high teens and potentially reaching the low 20s,” Met Éireann said.
