Met Éireann promises the hottest days of the year this weekend

Ireland is expected to have the warmest weekend of the year this Saturday and Sunday with temperatures reaching 20 degrees, Met Éireann forecast.

This week will see a mix of sunny spells and showers with temperatures hovering in the mid teens before temperatures climb to 19 degrees on Friday and then surpass 20 degrees over the weekend on what is likely to be the hottest days of the year.

Tuesday will be a blustery day with sunny spells and scattered showers, becoming heavy at times, and showers will be most common in the west and north.

Temperatures reach 17 degrees, mildest in the south-east, with moderate to brisk and gusty south-west winds being strong at times in the west and north-west. It will remain windy tonight with clear spells and showers and the possibility of hail in areas.

Wednesday will also see a mix of sunny spells and scattered showers, again with a risk of hail in some areas as showers intensify at times. Things will turn drier towards Wednesday evening as scattered showers become sporadic and temperatures will peak at 12-16 where the southwest will again be warmest.

“Sometimes showers and showers until the end of the week, but will be warmer and drier over the weekend,” said a Met Éireann forecaster.

“Early Thursday will be largely cloudy with rain and drizzle spreading across Connacht and Ulster. Elsewhere it will be drier with isolated showers. Maximum temperatures of 11 to 15 degrees with a moderate to fresh south-west wind”.

Friday will start out fairly cloudy with scattered showers mainly in the west and north, but it will gradually lighten up as the day progresses with sunny spells developing and showers fading. Temperatures will reach 19 degrees in the southwest but only 13 in the northwest.

Saturday will be a warm and mostly dry day with long rays of sunshine and only a few light showers as temperatures will break above 20 degrees for the first time this year in relatively calm conditions.

“A warm and dry day on Sunday before getting choppy again for the early days of next week,” the weather forecaster said. Met Éireann promises the hottest days of the year this weekend
