Temperatures are expected to hit 18 degrees today with long rays of sunshine bathing the country this weekend.
Saturday morning’s cloud and fog will clear quickly save for some coastal areas to show further drought and above-average temperatures for the time of year.
“A generally fine spring day with long rays of sunshine and only patchy clouds. Highest temperatures of 14 to 18 degrees with slight northeast or shifting breezes,” a Met Éireann forecaster said.
It will remain dry overnight on Saturday as temperatures drop to 4-7 but should remain clear with only localized patches of fog and mist.
These will quickly dissipate on Sunday morning when another bright day with sunny spells is upon us.
“On Sunday the fine weather with early fog or patches of fog will continue to leave another dry day with long spring sunshine. Maximum temperatures of 14 to 17 degrees with light east winds or changing winds,” said the national meteorologist.
The weather will change slightly on Monday after a calm and dry start as more clouds move in from the west and isolated showers are possible.
Monday will be a mix of cloudy periods and sunny periods with highs of 13 to 16 degrees.
Tuesday is expected to be a slightly cloudier day and the wind direction will change from the north making the air colder than the past few days.
“A change is expected on Wednesday as cooler air blankets the country with isolated showers, some of which may be wintry, feeding down through the afternoon and evening. Cloudy skies and also noticeably colder with highs of 6 to 9 degrees with a brisk north wind,” said the meteorologist.
