Met Office is issuing a yellow weather warning for parts of Sussex

THE Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for thunderstorms in parts of Sussex.

The warning comes into effect at 8 p.m. today (September 5) and lasts until 4 a.m. tomorrow (September 6).

What to expect, according to the Met Office

  • There is a good chance that spray, standing water, locally gusty winds and/or hail will affect driving conditions, resulting in longer travel times by car and bus
  • Likely damage to some buildings and structures from lightning strikes and gusty winds.
  • It is possible that some homes and businesses will be flooded causing some damage to buildings or structures
  • Train delays are possible
  • Some momentary power outages and other services are possible
