Met Office issues gale warning for Brighton and Sussex

A yellow weather warning has been issued as thunderstorms are expected across Sussex tonight.

The Met Office’s warning is the third to hit the area in recent days and affects all of Sussex.

Residents can expect thunder and lightning, as well as “some flooding” of homes and the possible power outage.

Stormy weather is expected between Thursday 3 November 8pm and Friday 4 November 6am.

A series of yellow weather warnings were put into effect after Storm Claudio battered the south coast earlier in the week.

The latest warning comes after a yellow weather warning for wind was issued on Tuesday, November 1.

A similar rain warning was in effect on Thursday 3 November.

A yellow severe weather warning for thunderstorms can mean there is a possibility of damage to buildings from lightning strikes.

Trains and other forms of public transport may also be delayed.
