Meta introduces new virtual reality headset “Meta Quest Pro” with a hefty price tag

Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, unveiled its latest virtual reality headset, the Meta Quest Pro, on Tuesday, which it hailed as the most realistic yet.

The Quest Pro costs $1,499 compared to Meta’s last released VR set, Meta Quest 2, which was priced at $399. It’s said to have sharper images, better ergonomics, an improved processor, eye-tracking, and a high-resolution color video feed. The new VR headset also claims to improve the Metaverse experience.

Meta Quest Pro is “built to expand the possibilities of virtual and mixed reality” by “finally allowing the physical and digital worlds to interact seamlessly,” Meta said in a Tuesday publication.

Orders will be shipped from October 25th and pre-orders will start on Tuesday.

A user’s VR avatar can copy facial expressions, such as moving eyebrows or twitching a face, by recording even the smallest movements through the VR headset.

The Meta Quest Pro comes with a new curved battery pack on the back that helps make it more balanced.

CEO Mark Zuckerberg told The Verge during a demo at Meta’s research facility in Redmond, Wash. that Meta Quest Pro “is the high-end VR device — for enthusiasts, prosumers, the kind of people trying to get their jobs done.” .
