Michael Buble talks about his son Noah on The One Show

Michael Bublé has revealed he was reached out to Sir Elton John when his son was battling cancer – even though they didn’t know each other.

Hitmaker Just Haven’t Met You Yet and his wife Luisana Lopilato were devastated when their eldest son Noah was diagnosed with liver cancer in 2016.

At the time, the youngster was just three years old – and Michael told Elton that he called him every Sunday.

Calling the Tiny Dancer singer a “handsome man,” Michael told Magic Breakfast, “I didn’t know him and he called me every single Sunday.

“Every single Sunday he called me to say that he and David were praying for me and that they loved us and would send us toys.

“He is, he really is, so Elton John, thanks.”

Luckily, Noah made a full recovery from his cancer and is now able to live a full and normal life.

When news broke that his son was ill, Michael immediately canceled his touring and all his music plans so he could get through the family ordeal, which he has since described as “hell.”

The family watched as the boy endured grueling chemotherapy and radiation therapy.

Canadian Grammy winner Michael said he often wished he could switch places with his son so it could happen to him.

He told the Today Show in America: “We went through the worst that you could hear as a parent and maybe as a person.

“I would have much preferred it had been me. I have often wished for that. I wish it had happened to me.”

In 2017, Michael and his family released a statement saying Noah had beaten the disease and was now cancer-free.

It said: “We are so grateful to announce that our son Noah has made good progress during his treatment and the doctors are very optimistic about our little boy’s future.

“He was brave throughout and we continue to be inspired by his bravery. We thank God for the strength he has given us all.”

Speaking to TV presenter Kate Garraway late last year as his Christmas special aired, Michael gave fans an update on Noah, who recently turned eight.

He said: “He’s really good. It’s been almost five years. We still have the scans and the scanxiety. You know what? I think he’s a lot better than us.

“You know, to him he’s this normal little boy who knows he’s a superhero because Dad keeps telling him so. But for Mum and I it’s definitely something that’s there even though we’re better off.”

In addition to Noah, Michael and his wife Luisana share six-year-old son Elias and three-year-old daughter Vida. The couple is expected to give birth to their fourth child together later this year.
