Michael Jackson’s nephew ‘humbled and honored’ to play uncle in new biopic

Michael Jackson’s grandson said he was “humbled and honored” to bring the story of his world-famous uncle to life.
aafar Jackson will play the King of Pop in an upcoming biopic, titled Michael, directed by Antoine Fuqua.
The 26-year-old actor is the second youngest son of Jermaine Jackson, Michael’s brother, and the film is considered his acting debut.
Sharing a black and white photo of himself in Jackson’s famous black-and-white shoe combo, he wrote: “I am humbled and honored to bring my Uncle Michael’s story to life.
“To all the fans around the world, I will see you soon.
On Monday, Lionsgate announced that Michael will be produced by Oscar-winning Bohemian Rhapsody producer Graham King.
Michael Jackson’s official account wrote: “Have you heard the news?
“Michael’s nephew, Jaafar, has been cast to play Michael in the upcoming biopic about the King of Pop!”
Before getting into acting, Jaafar released his own music – in 2019 he released his debut single, Got Me Sing.
“I met Jaafar over two years ago and was struck by how organically he embodied Michael’s spirit and personality,” King said in a statement shared with US media.
“It’s something so powerful that even after conducting a worldwide search, it’s clear he’s the only one to take on the role.”
Fuqua added in a statement that Jackson “has an innate ability to imitate Michael and has an amazing chemistry with the camera”.

Michael will be an commissioned portrait of the pop star, who passed away in 2009.
The film, written by Gladiator and The Aviator screenwriter John Logan, is being produced in partnership with the singer’s family.
“Jaafar embodies my son,” Katherine Jackson said in a statement.
“It’s great to see him continuing Jackson’s legacy of artist and performer.”
Michael will start shooting later this year.
