Shane Warne’s son pays touching tribute to his father

Michael Jordan made a touching gesture to Shane Warne’s family following the state funeral for the late cricketer in his native Australia earlier this week.

A memorial service for the late Bowler, who passed away earlier this month at the age of 52, was held in Melbourne yesterday, with his family among those in attendance.

The state funeral prompted the father-of-three to pay further tributes to his children and a host of celebrities, including singers Chris Martin, 45, and Kylie Minogue, 53.

And it has now been revealed that basketball legend Jordan, 59, recently reached out to Warne’s family, making a touching gesture as they mourn his death.

The former NBA star sent the family a bouquet of what appeared to be roses and orchids – with one of the late cricketer’s children posting a photo to Instagram.

Brooke Warne, 24, uploaded the photo yesterday, with the card that arrived in her post with the flowers partially visible, captioned: “Deep sympathies Michael Jordan.”

Expressing her gratitude for the thoughtful gesture, she wrote next to the photo of the bouquet: “Flowers from someone very special. Thank you Michael Jordan.

It is understood that Jordan and Warne – both considered to be among the best players in their respective sports – met in the 1990s when they were both sponsored by Nike.

A throwback photo of the pair – unearthed before Warne’s death – showed the two men posing together earlier in their careers when Jordan played for the Chicago White Soxs.

The most recent memorial service for Warne was held at Melbourne Cricket Ground – known as the MCG – where a stand honoring the late cricketer was unveiled earlier this week.

After the service, Brooke said, “Thank you everyone for the overwhelming support and love we have received. Dad’s celebration last night was extravagant.”

She added: “We are so grateful we were able to send him to the MCG and unveil the Shane Warne booth with my brother and sister to cap off the night. Thank you all.”

Brooke was in attendance along with her brother Jackson Warne, 23, and sister Summer Warne, 20 – who have both paid tribute to their father since his death earlier this month.
