Courtney began playing Myers in 2018 with “Halloween,” the first installment directed by David Gordon Green in the franchise. He certainly filled the shoes of giants coming into this installment, with Nick Castle and Tony Moran reprising the role in the original film. Later, Dick Warlock played the role in “Halloween II.” In the fourth season, George P. Wilbur plays Myers, with Donald L. Shanks taking over the fifth season and Wilbur returning for the sixth season. Chris Durand reprises the role in “Halloween H20” and then Brad Loree reprises the role in “Halloween Resurrection”. Finally, Tyler Mane played Myers in two of Rob Zombie’s “Halloween” reboots, which were the most recent in the series before Green started his own reboot series.
Needless to say, many actors have tried their hand at the legendary Myers, but Courtney has been there with one of the longest. He’s been an effective part of the new movies, and would be a fitting final Myers if they really decide that this is the end of the “Halloween” saga. If they don’t – and I don’t think any of us will be surprised if they don’t – it will be interesting to see who inherits the coveted role. As always, it will be someone present, arguably the most important element of Michael Myers’ character, and Courtney is sure to be missed in this part because of the menacing presence he brings to the scene. Green’s franchise add-ons. As they say, on to the next one – potentially.
