Microsoft could make it harder to share Xbox clips on Twitter

Microsoft may make it more difficult to share your gameplay captures on Twitter due to changes to Xbox Insider builds reported by Windows headquarters. Right now, on my Xbox Series X, I can post a screenshot or video to Twitter directly from the Xbox interface, but loudly Windows headquartersInsider builds have removed this option and instead direct you to share from your phone.

Sharing Xbox recordings from your phone isn’t new – I actually find it to be a pretty smooth experience. When you select a recording on your Xbox and then select the option to share on mobile, your phone should display a notification that takes you straight to that recording in the Xbox app so you can save and share it wherever you want.

But with the seemingly imminent change that removes the ability to share to Twitter directly from your Xbox, posting will become yours from your phone only Possibility. That might not be ideal if, for example, you have your phone in another room while playing a few rounds Halo infinity. Microsoft did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Nintendo and Sony allow you to post to Twitter directly from the Switch and PS5, making Xbox’s potential removal of the feature a disadvantage when using Microsoft’s consoles (ie, if the change is available to everyone). However, both Nintendo and Sony have also added features that make it easier to share clips from your phone, perhaps considering many people probably prefer to post things to Twitter from their phone anyway.
