PEOPLE around the world lost access to their email after a Microsoft outage.
Reports of issues affecting Outlook mounted Tuesday, as did the company’s Office 365 platform, which millions of workers use.
According to that down detector website, the problems started just before noon in the UK.
It is not clear what caused the outage.
Fortunately, downtime doesn’t seem to be widespread either.
“I almost threw my laptop out the window before realizing Outlook email was down,” said one frustrated employee.
Microsoft’s own service status page acknowledges that there are issues for some users who “may not be able to access their mailboxes through any connection method.”
The tech giant warned people they could face delays in sending, receiving or accessing email messages.
“The impact is specific to some users in Europe,” Microsoft added.
The official Twitter account for Microsoft 365 – also known as Office 365 – revealed a similar situation.
“We have identified that several Microsoft 365 services are experiencing lag, connectivity and search issues and are investigating the cause,” the company said.
It all comes as if many popular websites and apps went down on the same day.
VPN provider NordVPN and takeout delivery favorite Just Eat were among the big names hit after a major service provider collapsed.
Cloudflare – the backbone of many websites – admitted it was at the root of the problem after suffering a “critical” incident.
