Mike Dean is VAR for Brighton vs Leeds

Michael Salisbury has served as an Amex referee for the second time today.

But he will have a highly experienced colleague from Stockley Park to help him.

Mike Dean is on VAR duty for Albion’s home game against Leeds.

Dean stepped down as a referee last season – and the 1-1 draw between Leeds and Albion at Elland Road was his penultimate game.

He picked up the last yellow card of his long career when he booked Tariq Lamptey for handball late in the game.

Salisbury is from Preston and his only refereeing Albion game to date was almost a year ago.

He was in the middle as the Seagulls beat Swansea City 2-0 in the Carabao Cup.

So far this season he has shown 15 yellow cards and no reds in four league and cup games.

The full officiating team is as follows.

Referee: Michael Salisbury. Assistants: Neil Davies, Matthew Wilkes. Fourth Official: James Linington. VAR: Mike Dean. VAR Assistant: Nick Hopton.
