“But the President is entitled to his day in court, he has the right to defend himself, and I want to reserve judgment until he has a chance to respond,” added Trump’s former vice president and current rival in the running for the election Republican 2024 added.
Pence said that “even the inadvertent release” of information about America’s nuclear program or defense capabilities “could endanger our national security and the safety of our armed forces.”
“And honestly, with two members of our immediate family serving in the United States Armed Forces, I will never underestimate the importance of protecting our nation’s secrets,” he added.
However, Pence said it was “hard for me to believe that politics didn’t play a role in this decision” to charge Trump in the case.
