Mikel Arteta assesses Arsenal’s performance against Watford

Mikel Arteta was seen ‘screaming’ at Kieran Tierney before he Against Cucho Hernandez.

The Spaniard shouted at Tierney for not getting out fast enough with Hernandez at one point in the first half, before reeling in complaints to officials after Martinelli failed to cover the left-back scotist.

“We’ve been really good going forward and we have all the right intentions and energy to make it happen,” he said. “We scored three great goals but we didn’t have enough energy and commitment in defence.

“When that happens, to win a home game you have to suffer. That’s why we suffered today – because we didn’t have the right structure to defend. We did not detect urgently enough moments that they might trigger certain spatialities that we already know.

“That’s why we suffered. We conceded two and we could have conceded another one or two.”
