Miles Teller takes on members of the Mafia in a new trailer for The Offer, a TV series about the making of “the greatest movie almost never made” – The Godfather.
The actor stars alongside Giovanni Ribisi in the series, which follows the genesis of Francis Ford Coppola’s 1972 epic.
The official trailer shows Teller sitting down with Ribisi, who accuses him of making a movie “that makes my people look like animals.”
“The godfather brings us problems,” Ribisi is told by a shady character when he asks if he “must take care of it.”
Teller, who will play Oscar-winning producer Al Ruddy, will also be joined by Ted Lasso star Juno Temple, Matthew Goode and Fantastic Beasts actor Dan Fogler, who plays Coppola.
The trailer shows Coppola being portrayed as “someone who understands Italian” and highlights a famous scene that features “family” rather than gangsters fighting over pasta sauce.
The original 1972 classic starred Marlon Brando as mob boss Vito Corleone and Al Pacino as his son Michael.
The new trailer also references Brando’s notoriously unmanageable nature, prompting Teller to ask, “Can there be anything wrong with this picture?”
After scenes of guns being drawn and threats being made, Teller adds, “That’s what it’s all about, the excitement, the thrill…that’s movie magic, baby.”
Parts of the legendary Paramount Pictures studios in Los Angeles can be seen in the clips as well as the famous theme song from The Godfather.
The limited series will be available to stream on Paramount+ starting April 28th.
