Miley Cyrus has assured fans that she and her crew are safe after a plane they were traveling in was struck by lightning en route to a music festival in Paraguay.
The singer said the plane was forced to make an emergency landing and shared a short video on social media of the ordeal and damage caused by the “big unexpected storm”.
Cyrus was scheduled to perform at the Asuncionico Festival in the Asuncion capital along with other big names like The Foo Fighters, Machine Gun Kelly and Doja Cat.
“To my fans and anyone who is concerned after hearing about my flight to Asuncion,” she wrote.
“Our plane got caught in a big unexpected storm and was struck by lightning.
“My crew, band, friends and family, who all traveled with me, are safe after an emergency landing.
“Unfortunately we couldn’t fly to Paraguay. I LOVE YOU.”

The second day of the Asuncionico festival was later cancelled. Extreme weather conditions forced the organizers to abandon it for public safety reasons.
Cyrus later released a video thanking fans for their messages of support after the “terrifying” experience and sang them a song from a bathtub.
