GOOGLE Maps is a useful tool that most of us could probably not do without when planning a trip these days.

Using Street View to familiarize yourself with streets and buildings is a huge advantage – but have you ever considered that it could be misused to invade your privacy?

As CNET indicates that stalkers or criminals could use it to sneak a peek at your house.

This means they can see things such as B. any CCTV cameras you have or where the doors and windows are located.

And with people potentially leaving for Christmas soon, this could leave your homes exposed.

So what can you do to protect yourself?

There is a particular trick that has been used by Tony Blair, Sir Paul McCartney and countless other celebrities.

And it’s not just for the rich and famous either.

You can make your home invisible – here’s how.

How to blur my house in Google Maps Street View

First you need to do this on a desktop computer.

Go to and find your home address.

Click on the photo of your home that should appear on the left.

You should see the bottom right To report a problem in really tiny text – click on it.

Adjust the red box so that it covers the area you want to blur.

Use + and – to zoom in and out as needed – or just scroll with your mouse.

Choose my home from the following options.

Google will ask you to provide additional information so that the right thing is correctly redacted. So please provide all required details.

Make sure you’re smudging the right thing – and that you’re safe.

At this point, Google warns that once the request has been submitted, there is no turning back.

The blur effect is applied permanently.

Finally, enter your email address and confirm that you are not a robot.

Then press the Submit Button.

After that, you will receive a confirmation email from Google.
