FACEBOOK can reveal if you are being attacked by hackers.
A simple feature hidden in your Facebook settings can give you a big clue — and even save you from a cyberattack.
And that means you might not lose access to your accounts, private information, or even cash.
Billions of people log into Meta’s Facebook app every month, making its users common targets for hackers.
One of the most insidious tricks used by hackers is called “phishing”.
This includes sending emails to users impersonating themselves Facebook.
These emails can be very sophisticated and look identical to Facebook emails.
Usually, it asks you to login and hand over details which can result in your Facebook getting hacked.
Sometimes these nefarious scammers ask for banking details as well.
Or they use personal information from your Facebook account to hack into your other logins.
Luckily Facebook has a hidden list of all the emails it has sent you.
This includes notification emails letting you know what’s going on with your account.
But it also includes security emails, e.g. B. when you asked for password resets or recovery codes.
The idea is that if you receive a suspicious email from Facebook, you can compare it to this list.
The list includes all the times, dates, and subjects, as well as the email address the message was sent to.
If you’re receiving emails that appear to be from Facebook but aren’t on this list, it probably means you’re the target of phishing attempts.
That means hackers are trying to get into your account.
This may not be a personal attack – you could just be part of a bulk mailing list used by hackers.
However, it is important to ignore potential phishing emails.
Avoid opening them and under no circumstances click on links and never give out personal information.
A list like this is one of the best defenses against phishing, so be sure to check it regularly.
