APPLE is reportedly planning to kill one of its iPhones for good next month.
The iPhone 5C is expected to be declared ‘obsolete’ by the tech giant, which could cause problems for anyone still using one.
The device made waves back in 2013 with its bold colors.
It was one of Apple’s cheaper iPhone devices to lure budget-conscious Android users.
But nine years after its release, the company seems poised to hammer the final nail in the iPhone 5C’s coffin, they say MacRumors.
Products are placed in Apple’s obsolete category if they were discontinued more than seven years ago.
This means that Apple is discontinuing all hardware maintenance.
So there are practically no more repairs possible.
The move comes as no surprise since Apple’s iPhone 5C was officially classified as “vintage” in 2020.
It’s also standard for the company to move older devices down the order when it releases new iPhones and iOS versions.

After the release of iOS 16 last month, all iPhones older than the iPhone 8 will no longer receive software updates.
These include the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, as well as the iPhone 6 – the most popular iPhone in history.
The iPhone 7 series and some older models only support up to iOS 15 and can no longer receive updates.
If you own one of these devices, you should seriously consider upgrading.
That’s because you don’t get critical software upgrades that protect your device from cyber attacks.
