WHATSAPP finally allows users to speed up voice notes on your desktop.
The feature is already available for iPhone and Android – but it’s finally coming to Windows too.
This means you can increase the playback speed of a voice memo in the app.
This is great if you regularly receive or send very long voice notes.
You can burn through them in record time – so you can get on with your day.
The change was spotted by WhatsApp investigators at WABetaInfowho said the feature is now available in the Windows desktop beta.
“The best way to check if the feature is already available on your WhatsApp account is to play a voice memo,” explains WABetaInfo.
“When the playback speed button appears, you can finally use this feature.”
Of course, this is already possible on the live versions of WhatsApp for iOS and Android.
Just tap the new 1x button next to the voice message.
You can choose 1.5x or 2x speeds – just note that double speed is extremely fast, so you might find it’s too fast.
And while the feature is handy, remember that sending extremely long voice notes isn’t always the best idea.
“While everyone has different opinions about the ideal length of a voice message, try to limit it to 1 or 2 minutes,” said etiquette expert Jo Bryant.
“If it’s too long to type but too short to call, you’ve found the voice messaging sweet spot.
“It’s neither fun nor comfortable to listen to long rambles that can take ten minutes to listen to, or to play a message out loud from a parent on public transport.”
