Mind-blowing ‘Spinning Stairs’ Optical Illusion Leaves Viewers ‘Unable To See The Truth’

A BRAIN RATTLING optical illusion has left internet users perplexed.
The video shared on Reddit over the weekend showed fans exiting the San Siro stadium, home of Italian football clubs Inter Milan and AC Milan.

They walk a huge spiral corridor around the outside of the floor, which appears to be spinning on its own axis.
However, the column actually stands still and the slingshot effect is a nice wink.
Reddit user u/MonsterJuiced shared the clip, which has been posted multiple times in the past, on Saturday.
The post on the site’s popular r/confusingperspective forum garnered 14,000 upvotes.
The clip shows supporters exiting the San Siro via one of its many pillars, creating a strange optical illusion.
The effect is created by everyone going around the structure in the same direction and at a similar speed.
Because their legs are obscured by the walls of the pillar, they appear to rotate as the structure itself rotates.
Over on Reddit, users were stunned by the illusion.
One said: “I thought I was high”.
Another wrote: “Okay this is too hard can someone explain.”
Others commented to explain how the effect is created.
One wrote: “People are walking down this ramp. So she seems to be moving. It’s not her.”
Another said: “Everyone is going in the same direction, down. So technically people are spinning, which makes it appear like the white corkscrew ramp is moving with them like a rotating escalator, but it’s not moving.”
Opened in 1926, the San Siro — or Giuseppe Meazza — has undergone several renovations.
The 11 towers were installed in 1990 before Italy hosted the World Cup as part of its latest and most impressive update.
At each corner, the main supporting column rises 51 meters and forms part of the arena’s unique look, supported by the beautiful Ragazzi-designed roof.
However, the site is not one that football fans can enjoy for much longer.

There are plans for AC Milan and Inter to build a new stadium on the same site, meaning the existing San Siro is set to be demolished in the coming years.
In its place, a new 80,000-seat stadium is set to once again host both teams. Planning for the project is expected to be completed this year.
