Fans of Cadbury’s Twirl Mini Bites are no more as their favorite chocolate disappeared from Cadbury’s Heroes cups ahead of Christmas.
Wednesday’s news came as a shock to many with a sweet tooth, as manufacturers blamed supply chain problems for the lack of Twirl mini-bites in their Christmas confections.
Some who had cheekily opened a can of Heroes in the past few days were surprised to discover two regular sized Twirl bars among the candies.
A spokesman for Mondelez, which owns Cadbury’s, said: “We are facing the same challenges that many other food companies have reported in recent months,” citing problems in the supply chain as the cause.
“To ensure we can continue to offer our loyal consumers the products they know and love, we have temporarily replaced Cadbury Twirl in Heroes Tubs with the slightly larger Cadbury Twirl 21g on a small percentage of tubs produced,” said the spokesperson .
This comes not long after Mars confirmed that Bounty candy will be removed from Celebration bins in the UK this festive season, reigniting the endless debate over whether the coconut-flavored candy deserves its place in the tub.
Mondelez also encountered supply chain issues globally with a chocolate Mikado cookie in September.
