Comedian Miranda Hart has confirmed the hit BBC comedy will be back on our screens soon after it last aired on New Year’s Day 2015.
Miranda is set to return after a seven-year absence from the British screen.
The last episode of the hit BBC comedy was on New Year’s Day 2015 but top star Miranda Hart has announced that she has finished writing a fourth series.
The BBC has yet to confirm that the show will return but the 49-year-old actress and comedian said Sun : “A lot of lovely people have kept asking for Miranda’s return so here we are and I hope everyone enjoys it.”
Miranda’s first series debuted in 2009 and starred Lucifer actor Tom Ellis. In November, she revealed on The Gaby Roslin podcast that she was “definitely thinking about” resurrecting her sitcom, saying, “When you create characters like that, that you live with For a long time, they will become part of you.
“I think of them from time to time, like you’d say to a friend you haven’t seen in a while, ‘Oh, what are they going to do.’ And so I definitely had some thoughts on where to go. they can be and what will happen to all of them.
“The circumstances don’t quite fit. But there’s something that I’d like to say I don’t rule out now.
“While a few years after it ended, I completely finished it and that’s it.” There is also unconfirmed talk of a live show going on.
Miranda previously announced in January 2021 that she would be taking a break from her career following the death of her beloved dog Peggy. The shih tzu/bichon cross has been Miranda’s companion since 2007 and was also the inspiration behind her 2016 memoir Peggy and Me.
The former Call the Midwife star said she will take a break from work and social media to relieve her sadness.
In an Instagram statement at the time, she said: “Dog owners like you will know the overwhelming sadness of losing your loyal, loving best friend.
“Pain reflects the unique joy, connection, comfort and love they bring. And Peggy is my absolute rock and the source of all of that.
“Their unconditional, uncompromising loving presence is an incredible gift. Enjoy your dogs as much as you can.
“They are great teachers. I’m taking this time to take a break from work/post to write and rest and see what the new chapter is like.”
