Miriam O’Callaghan reveals her husband quit his job and moved to Dublin because of her

Miriam O’Callaghan has revealed how her husband Steve Carson has moved to Ireland to be with her.

he combined the two to work on the BBC’s Newsnight on current affairs, but Steve left his role to join Miriam in Dublin after her sister Anne fell ill.

He also helps her take care of her four young daughters from her first marriage to Tom McGurk.

“In the case of Steve and I, I’m glad he has the glorious career he has now, because when I first met him, I went back to Ireland, my sister got sick, and I stayed. here,” Miriam told RTÉ Guide.

“He came because I had small children from my first marriage… I was separated. So he quit his job at that point.”

Steve is currently busy as the General Manager of BBC Scotland and Miriam is delighted to see him take on the role.

“For me, it’s just a beautiful love circle and he’s probably in a senior position now like he would have been if we had stayed at the BBC.

“I want him to have his career. If I say, ‘I don’t want this, there’s no way he can do it, so I’m happy for him and I’m happy too.

“The house is busy anyway. It’s like Heuston station, as my mother used to say. Busy, busy, busy.”

The 62-year-old admits that while they manage their long distance relationship well, that also comes with its problems.
