MMA fighter Conor McGregor charged with additional driving

MMA fighter Conor McGregor has been charged with additional charges along with six existing driving counts, a court heard.

cGregor, of The Paddocks, Castledillon, Straffan, Co Kildare, appeared in Blanchardstown District Court on Thursday morning.

Garda Denis Lordan, of Lucan Garda Station, said officers had further charged the defendant.

As for McGregor, attorney David Staunton said: “This is an additional charge arising from a similar incident.”

Mr Staunton said he wanted to review the CCTV footage after the new charges.

After the hearing, McGregor’s attorney said the new allegation involved careless driving.

McGregor appeared in court on April 7 for two counts of dangerous driving.

He was also charged with driving without insurance and a driver’s license, and failing to present an insurance certificate or driver’s license.

The UFC star was traveling in his Bentley Continental GT on the N4/M50 intersection in Lucan, west of Dublin, when he was stopped by the gardai on March 22.

McGregor sat at the back of a busy courtroom while he waited for his case to be called.

Leaving the field, McGregor said: “Just shoot this movie now. Going will be a lot of fun.”

Before departing in a black Mercedes, he said he was flying out in a few days to start filming and hoped to be fighting again soon.
