Modular home builder Framespace creates 150 jobs in Longford

Modular home builder Framespace will hire an additional 150 people when it opens a new €8 million factory in Longford.

The company already employs 100 people in Ireland and has just renovated Cameron Willis’ former engineering works in the Midlands town.

It is currently developing a six residence site at Riverside Manor in Kilcullen, Co. Kildare.

The offsite home provider – which says its products can help meet the government’s targets for social and affordable housing – is now hiring in design, engineering and general operations positions.

In a statement Thursday, the home builder said it would double production to deliver 1,100 homes a year by 2025.

Framespace manufactures prefabricated floor, wall and roof panels at its Longford factory that can be assembled into homes up to seven stories in a matter of hours.

The system reduces construction time by up to 40 percent compared to more traditional construction methods, Framespace estimates.

The €8 million investment in the Longford facility was supported by Enterprise Ireland and Longford’s Local Enterprise Office.

It is estimated that Ireland will need 33,000 new homes annually by 2030.

“Framespace Solutions will play a central role in the implementation of the government’s ‘Housing for All’ strategy by offering a sustainable alternative to traditional forms of construction,” said Secretary of State for Trade Promotion Robert Troy.

“Framespace is already a regionally significant company and a key player in the construction sector with strong export ambitions and news of its expansion in Longford is very welcome.”

He said the announcement was “hugely important for the Midlands and the national economy”.

Enterprise Ireland CEO Leo Clancy said: “The scope for rapid expansion of modular housing in Ireland is clear”.

Framespace Solutions CEO Declan Murtagh said the company “offers a solution that will help accelerate the delivery of new homes as their adoption grows.” Modular home builder Framespace creates 150 jobs in Longford
