Claims that three Albion players could see their World Cup dreams ruined were laughed at in Ecuador last night.
It has been reported that Chile is pursuing its complaints about Ecuador’s Byron Castillo’s eligibility for qualifiers.
They want La Tri kicked out of the Qatar tournament.
But a well-placed contact in Ecuador told The Argus that such a last-minute offer from Chile was “the kicks of a drowning man”.
In Ecuador, the understanding is that even if they are found guilty on appeal, each punishment will be dealt individually rather than expelling the entire team.
Albion’s Moises Caicedo is the heart of the Ecuadorian team in midfield. Left-back Pervis Estupinan is also expected to start.
Jeremy Sarmiento should also be in the squad.
