If you’re still working from home, you know how irritating outside noise can be — from neighbors completing home improvement projects to dogs barking to the noise of garbage men coming to empty your bin.
But one mum was particularly outraged after her neighbor’s two teenagers “blasted” music out of her house for 12 hours a day, meaning she couldn’t get work done.
in the a post on MumsnetThe woman explained that the teenagers are currently both coming home from school on study leave while they prepare for their exams at the end of the year, but instead of studying they are having their time in their “cozy” flat at the end of their garden with their spent friends.

The mum insists they play loud dance music from 11am to 11pm every day, meaning she can’t find rest while trying to work from home – nor can she open windows for fresh air as this the noise only gets worse.
She said: “My neighbor has two teenage children. One has a high school diploma and one has a GCSE, which means they are on educational leave apart from exams.
“They have a sort of teenage parlor at the end of their garden – a glorified shed, really with lights and speakers. That means they play (bad) dance music every day from 11am to 11pm.
“I can get by at night, but I work from home and the only place I can work is in the dining room – that’s her side of the house. I really struggle with working and having meetings with non-stop music and the screaming of teenagers.”
The mum said she tried talking to her neighbor about the noise but had no luck and she now thinks she can look forward to “three months” of noise as she is sure the teens will be happy after their exams will continue to play music are over and the summer holidays are beginning.
She added: “I mentioned it to the neighbor who rolled her eyes and said to just ignore it.
“I have 3 months of this ahead of me! I don’t have an office to work in to escape this. And soon I also want the window to open. How can I explain that this is a problem and that EVERY ONE DAY and constant music isn’t really acceptable?”
Commenters encouraged the woman to try again to speak to her neighbor before taking a noise complaint to her local council, but many sympathized with her saying the noise was difficult to manage.
One said: “You have to tell your neighbor directly it’s going to stop now. There is nothing worse than loud music and you have to work!”
While another added: “Complain to your council. Take the recordings and just keep complaining to the council.”
And a third wrote: “Tell them you will report them to the council unless they decline. Councils will study noise pollution at any time of the day and most will send a letter first.”
