Mom stabbed to death by ‘most wanted criminal’ in graveyard relives horror kidnapping ordeal

A mother who was stabbed to death in a cemetery before a horrific kidnapping, in which an angry man threatened to kill her if she answered wrong, has described her ordeal.

The victim was bleeding from a stab wound in the back seat of her car and said she was certain she would never see her children again.

she said Birmingham Live that if she uttered a scream or a single word, she was told the knife-wielding attacker would “instantly kill her”.

The threats, punctuated by slaps in her face, were constant as violent stalker Lee Martin drove her around Birmingham.

When the horror ride finally ended, she was dragged into a house and interrogated on a kitchen chair.

There, the possessed Martin would tap her on the cheek with a knife and turn lights on and off while threatening that a wrong answer would result in death.

The woman was told that if she gave an incorrect answer, she would be killed

Her 42-year-old kidnapper soon became the city’s most wanted criminal for terrorizing single women, among other victims. in a frenzy of terror.

He hunted down a pregnant woman for her BMW, pushed a couple to the ground in their own home and cut down a male driver as he tried to flee police last September.

A big manhunt was launched to track down the “armed and dangerous” Martin from Aston before he was eventually apprehended.

He was jailed for 18 years, with his license extended to five years on May 3.

Now the 40-year-old woman – who survived a vicious graveyard stab and a 24-hour kidnapping while mourning her late sister’s birthday – has spoken out for the first time BirminghamLive.

He was convicted of all five of the mother-related felonies, including wounding, kidnapping, false imprisonment, death threats and dangerous driving under Section 18.

“I wasn’t his girlfriend, I only knew him for ten weeks,” emphasized the courageous mother of four, who feared not to be named.

She speaks of an undisclosed location somewhere in the West Midlands where she had to relocate for her safety.

When she first wrote to Martin on Facebook, he seemed “nice,” she said.

But he quickly became obsessed in “dangerous ways” and “soon life was stalking her.”

She added: “He was really pushy, he always wanted to meet up.

“I met him once and he had lost his cigarettes in his pocket. As he emptied his bag, I noticed my address on a piece of paper.

“He dismissed it. Then I thought ‘that’s weird’.

“I thought, ‘I have to stay away from him.’ My phone was constantly bombed. He got other people to text me, all I asked was to be left alone.”

As her late sister’s 35th birthday approached – the “toughest time of the year” – she told him to leave her alone; at least until after September 5th.

She had no intention of ever seeing him again. But the next day her life would change forever.

“I was an emotional wreck anyway. I was a little late, my family was on the bench,” she said of the September 5, 2021 meeting.

“My other sister told me there was a letter on the grave and the man who left it is over there.”

Martin was wanted at the time for a number of criminal offences

She was shocked and told her family she would be back in “five minutes” after asking him to leave the cemetery.

She added: “I drove over and left the kids with my sister. I was lucky, otherwise they would have been in the car with me. I got out and yelled at him.

“I went back to my car and as I did, my trunk opened and he popped out. He yelled ‘You bitch, you fucking bitch, look what you’re doing’ – and stabbed me. “

Martin had pierced the mother right through a tattoo she had in memory of her sister.

Her leg had her sibling’s name and her birthday—September 5, 1986—written on her leg, and he had pierced the date.

At first she didn’t realize she had been stabbed as he repeatedly slapped her in the face.

She yelled at him to stop, but he urged his injured victim to get into the back of their Volkswagen.

He threw her onto her back and pushed her so that she was lying on the back seats.

She screamed to tell him she was bleeding profusely, but he drove off.

Her voice began to tremble at the memory, she recalls: “He drove me from the cemetery and my family was standing in the cemetery, they couldn’t see what was going on. i was bleeding

“He screamed that I made him angry and told me what he would do to me.”

The horrific kidnapping continued, with various stops along the way.

She said: “He drove into this rest stop and I remember seeing a woman and I was like please help me.

“He turned around and started hitting me, he kept hitting me.”

She says desperate pleas for emergency hospital care have fallen on deaf ears.

Instead, brazen Martin began driving her around to different houses while she lay there bruised, her bleeding leg wrapped in his jacket.

But every time they saw people, he made up “a big story” that the two had been “robbed by a gang.”

“I kept passing out from losing so much blood and from getting hit,” she continued.

“I knew he had a knife up his sleeve and put it by my door. He said: ‘You say anything to anyone and I will kill you immediately’.

When asked where she was taken, she replies, “Anywhere, anywhere. Anywhere in Birmingham.”

He then dragged her to a final address, where he stripped off her clothes, put her in the bathtub, and put her back in boxers and a T-shirt.

She adds: “He was doing drugs all the time, dragging me into the kitchen and making me sit in this chair.

“He kept tapping me on the cheek with the knife and saying I have to answer his questions – and if I answer them right I can see my kids, if I answer them wrong you’re gone.

“I said, ‘I’m not dating anyone, I promise’. He kept hitting me. It went on all night. He kept the lights flickering.

“The whole time there was a house phone next to me, but I couldn’t do anything. He had this knife the whole time, he never left this knife.

“All I thought the whole time was, ‘I’ll never see my kids again’. One minute he was my friend, the next he wasn’t.”

Martin went on to tell her he loved her as he listed various conditions she had to agree to.

“I had to pretend I love him and be with him. I had to agree to the terms he said,” she said.

That included answering his calls “within so many rings,” telling him where she was, what she was doing, and who with.

He then suggested a plan to drive to Weston together.

He would take her home to get her clothes and they would meet again at 4pm.

Terrified, she agreed. The mother recalls: “I was wearing a t-shirt and boxer shorts covered in blood. When I got to my mother’s, I called the police.”

Still driving around in the Volkswagen he’d kidnapped her in, Martin made his escape – wreaking terror on lonely women and members of the public.

For the mother, the nightmare continued as she was taken from hotel to hotel along with the police.

In the midst of the great manhunt for Martinthe police recorded every threatening phone call they received.

“He kept calling me and telling me what he was going to do with me, what he was going to do with my kids,” she recalled.

“The police kept showing me pictures and asking me to identify him. I kept saying, ‘What’s he doing with people?’”

She was not told and had no idea of the devastation he was wreaking on victims across the city — including hitting a woman over the head with a beer bottle and threatening to stab a mother.

She added: “My leg was really, really bad. It kept flaring up. The knife had gone through the muscle in my leg, it kept trying to pop out, and kept breaking the stitches.

“There are no feelings at all. Some days it’s numb, it’s like a rubbery feeling, it’s awful.”

Martin was eventually caught after police asked her to identify a photo taken just 20 minutes earlier. His crime streak ended when he was arrested on September 14th.

When asked how she felt about the sentencing, she said: “It was just a nightmare, I had to move and move. He’ll come out again. I am afraid that he will pursue me again.

When asked how she felt about the sentencing, she said: “It was just a nightmare, I had to move and move. He’ll come out again. I am afraid that he will pursue me again.

“I’m constantly checking my car, constantly checking the trunk. I take down the parcel shelf.

“I have moments when I’m fine and moments when I’m just scared. My mood is high and low, then everywhere. Every day, all the time, I think about it anyway. But since the court case , I’m getting it out of my head.”
