A mother was reunited with a midwife who snapped adorable photos of her newborn baby while the father “slept in” for the birth.
Megan Burns, 23, welcomed baby Gabriella into the world with mum Fiona at her side at Wishaw General Hospital in November.
But her boyfriend overslept the quick one and a half hour delivery and missed the special moment.
The mother, from Hamilton, Scotland, originally planned to blog the birth, but when things “didn’t go as planned,” she asked student midwife Joanna Murray to snap lots of photos with her phone.
Megan, also mom to three-year-old Lola, later took part in a TikTok trend where users post someone they’ll never forget and instantly knew Joanna was the person to be featured, the reports daily record.
The heartwarming video has been viewed more than 150,000 times and even reached Joanna, who was delighted to come across the clip.

Megan said: “I’m pretty obsessed with TikTok and I’m always thinking of new videos to make. I’ve seen people doing the trend and I thought I could do it with the photos Joanna took. she was so beautiful
“My mother was my birth partner because my boyfriend overslept during the birth. I didn’t think the video would even reach her, but I had in my notes that her name was Joanna, so I wrote that in case she didn’t remember me.
“She watched TikTok and knew exactly who we were and what birth it was. She said Gabriella was her 18th baby and I thought that was really sweet that she remembered the number.
“A lot of people have commented on TikTok. They couldn’t believe I managed to find them and the video got to them.”
Joanna came forward online after seeing Megan’s video.
She commented: “Hey. I’m so glad I came across this one, what a lovely post. Gabriella was my 18th delivery and one I will never forget.”
Other TikTokers were thrilled that the couple was reunited through the power of social media, with Joanna’s comment being liked more than 1,000 times.
One person commented, “This is so cute.”
Another added: “Crying about it and how you found her.”
A third said: “Loved my first experience at Wishaw General in 2019 with my little girl. I had a student midwife named Emily and I named my daughter after her.”
