Jessie Wallace: EastEnders star overpowered by police

A video shows the moment EastEnders actress Jessie Wallace was arrested for allegedly assaulting a police officer outside a nightclub in the early hours of yesterday morning.

The 50-year-old soap star, who is best known for her role as Kat Slater, has accepted a conditional warning for an incident outside the Verve nightclub, in Bury St Edmonds.

In the video, Jessie is seen cuddling with two police officers around 2am on Sunday.

A third officer also joined his colleagues as they sought to restrain Jessie, who appeared annoyed in the video.

A Suffolk Police spokesman said: “A 50-year-old woman was arrested early Sunday morning in St Andrews Street, Bury St Edmunds, on suspicion of assaulting a police officer/drunk and committing a crime. vi was disorderly and was released after receiving prudent conditions. ”

Although not a sentence, a conditional warning is used as an alternative to charge and is recorded on the Police National Computer.

Three moths after release date, due diligence is marked as spent but it can be used in any possible future criminal proceedings as proof of character.

Jessie has played Kat in the TV series based on Walford for over two decades.

In 2020, she was laid off by the producers for two months after a “shooting incident”.

Jessie said she was asked to “resolve herself” by the promoters before she returned from a two-month suspension.

The actress was also banned from driving for three years in 2003 and fined £1,000 after being found guilty of drunk driving.

She had already exceeded the legal drinking limit by one-and-a-half times when she was stopped by police in Chelmsford in her Mercedes.

The star had previously been banned from the streets for 15 months about five years earlier for not taking a breathing test.
