Tory MPs were faced with a difficult choice after a monarchist mob booed lying lawbreaker Boris Johnson: try to save yourself or save public enemy number one.

Flag-waving central England is not a bunch of revolutionary Robespierres so loudly giving the Conservative charlatan the jubilee bird, illustrating how their party’s one-time winner is now an irretrievably corrupt loser.

He is a despised PM who is as popular as another Covid lockdown.

Labor and Keir Starmer’s best hope remains that the Tories bottleneck Johnson and stay tribal on an exposed scam dangling jobs and honors from naïve MPs.

However, that is a question of when the brazen boaster faces a no-confidence vote, which could take place as early as this week.

If he survives, Conservatives would dig themselves in a deeper hole, especially if a law-abiding majority show their contempt for Johnson in by-elections in Red Wall Wakefield and Blue Wall Tiverton later this month.

The old adage that the opposition doesn’t win elections, the governments lose them has never felt more justified.

Boisterous parties and the fraudulent cover-up aren’t the only charges against a disorderly self-destructing band.

Johnson, who reeks of squalor and acts like he doesn’t give a damn about kickbacks and retirees who are being hurt by the cost-of-living crisis, is drawing respect from the Tories.

That’s why Chancellor Rishi Sunak’s £21 billion ‘bazooka’, Labor poll results, deserved no political credit.

Johnson’s sacking is no guarantee of future success unless Liz Truss, Jeremy Hunt, Rishi Sunak, or anyone else is a nailed fifth general election promotion.

Holding Johnson, however, is continuous punishment with punches.
