More New World Server Merges are coming this week

Last weekend, Amazon hosted a special Steam Free Play event for New world. The company created numerous free servers for the event, ensuring that anyone who wanted to try the game could start a character and get started. All of these free play servers were later to be merged with existing servers. This has happened, Amazon confirmed, while also announcing a new series of server merges for the live servers in all regions.

These upcoming server merges have been slightly delayed due to a bug being discovered, but are now scheduled to take place on April 15th at 1pm Pacific. There are a total of 33 affected servers that are being merged with other servers. Central EU has the most, merging 15 servers while US East has 12, US West has 4, and Australia has 2. This will leave Australia with two servers, US West with 4, US East with 8 and EU Central with 18.

Given when New world Servers merge, the servers folded into the goal will lose all ownership and control statistics, some of these efforts will affect many players. However, if there are overall healthier populations on the target server, there is at least a greater chance for successful PvP and party finding.

Community response was mixed, with some wondering why their servers weren’t selected for merging, and others thanking the team for planning to merge certain requested servers. Overall the New world Team has said that all server merging decisions will be made on a case-by-case basis over time. There was a bug that prevented some server merges due to data issues, but there’s no word on if that’s fixed yet.
