Although iOS 16 adds a lot of useful little things, not all features and settings are popular.

For example, while many like the redesigned notifications on the lock screen, others do are not that enthusiastic.

Luckily, there are ways to bypass the irritating parts to ensure they don’t frustrate you too much.

Prevent the side button from ending calls

If you’re on a call, pressing the side button on your iPhone will immediately hang up.

It’s an extremely useful feature when you need to quickly end a call when you’re in a hurry (or annoyed).

However, if you have big fingers, you might find that you end up accidentally pressing the button (and hanging up).

Luckily for all fat-fingered phone fans, iOS 16 finally lets you prevent that from happening.

Open settings and head go Accessibility > Touch Switch off Lock to end call to prevent the side button from ending your calls.

Now when you’re on a call, if you press the button, your phone screen will lock but you’ll stay on the call.

Stop personal photo and video pop-ups

Your iPhone uses artificial intelligence to display photos and videos from your archive when it thinks you want to see them.

Featured Photos shows images it thinks you’ll like on your devices in a personalized home screen widget.

This feature lets you easily edit, delete, share, and mark images as favorites—but you can’t select the image you want.

It means you may be at risk of something embarrassing or inappropriate popping up when you least expect it.

With iOS 16, you can now block selected photos and curated collections, known as memories, from appearing in photo widgets.

Go to settings > photos and turn off Show selected content.

Go back to old lock screen notifications

With iOS 16, notifications now appear in a different location on your lock screen.

They now appear at the bottom of your display, stacked on top of each other by default.

It aims to clean up the lock screen and make room for the brand new lock screen widgets that can display information from apps like Maps and iMessage.

Some people aren’t big fans of the new notification setup.

Because they’re stacked, you can’t see multiple notifications at once without tapping the stack.

Luckily, Apple has included a way to go back to the classic “list” format.

Open the Settings app and go to notifications > Show as. Beat List.
