Mother-of-two (aged 50) has been found dead after being stabbed up to 12 times in a frenzied knife attack at her home in Ballymun

A murder investigation has been launched after a woman in her 50s was killed in a frantic knife attack at her home in Ballymun Co Dublin.
The local woman, who was a mother of two, is believed to have been stabbed about a dozen times at the property, suffering catastrophic injuries.
The woman’s remains were discovered after Gardaí and emergency services called the home in Sandyhill Gardens just before 3.30pm this afternoon.
A full murder investigation has now been launched, while Gardaí continue to appeal for information. No arrests were made.
The scene was kept pending the arrival of the state pathologist to conduct an examination.
The Garda Technical Bureau will also conduct a forensic investigation of the crime scene.
Locals who quibbled about the tragedy this afternoon described the victim as a “lovely, quiet” woman who was well known in the area.
Gardaí in Ballymun are asking for any witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.
A spokesman said: “Gardaí is currently at the scene of an incident at a residential building in the Ballymun area where a woman was discovered dead under mysterious circumstances.
“The investigation into this incident is at an early stage and no further information is available at this time.”
