Motorcyclist (20) dies in early morning collision in Dublin

A motorcyclist died in a traffic accident in Dublin in the early hours of the morning.

ardaí are investigating the incident which took place in Rathmines just after 2am.

“Gardaí received reports of a seriously injured male motorcyclist on St Clare’s Avenue, Rathmines. St. Clare’s Avenue lies between Grosvenor Square and Leinster Park. The man, aged around 20, was pronounced dead at the scene and his body has since been removed to the city morgue where an autopsy will be conducted at a later date,” a Garda spokesman said.

“The scene was subsequently preserved and forensic collision investigators conducted a technical investigation. The area is now open to the public.”

Gardaí appealed to all witnesses to the incident to come forward.

Any motorist or pedestrian possessing camera footage, including dashcam footage, who passed between 11:30 p.m. Wednesday 27 July and 2:15 a.m. Thursday 28 July in the vicinity of St Clare’s Avenue, Grosvenor Square or the Leinster Park are asked to make this footage available to Gardaí.
