Motorcyclist (40) killed in accident in Co Monaghan

A male motorcyclist (40 years old) has died in an accident where his vehicle collided with a car in Co Monaghan last night.

ardaí and emergency services visited the scene of a fatal road accident on the Old Armagh Road outside the city of Monaghan on Saturday March 19.

At around 4:50 p.m., two vehicles collided, involving a car and a motorcycle.

The motorcyclist, a man in his 40s, was treated at the scene by paramedics but was later pronounced dead.

His body was taken to the morgue at Monaghan General Hospital where an autopsy will take place at a later date. No other injuries were reported.

The road where the collision occurred remains closed this morning to allow for a technical investigation of the crime scene by forensic collision investigators. Local diversions have been set up.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward and any road users with video footage (including dashcam) are asked to provide it to them.
