The video, uploaded by itsqtube, begins by saying, “Did you know that if your Mercedes key battery is dead, you can do this to start it with the key?”

It then cuts to itsqtube, which says, “Wait! Is that real?

“As you can see, I can’t start my car. It’s called replacing the key battery.

“So check this out, it looks like this button is pretty easy to depress.”

The video shows the dashboard of itsqtube’s Mercedes showing that the keyless key is blank and therefore cannot be ‘found’ to start the engine with the car’s start button.

He then manages to detach the Mercedes starter button to reveal a slot underneath.

itsqtube continues: “And then you should be able to take your key and slide it in like that.

“Then spin it… oh my god, it works!”

The slot visible underneath is actually designed to hold the car key and to be used in emergencies when your car’s key battery is dead.

Because it’s so well hidden, thousands of Mercedes drivers may not even know it exists.

But not everyone was impressed with the hack, some people pointed out in the comments that it was just a design feature.

does24santos said: “Amazing, now you can start your car like any other car in the world.”

schamerasalam5 agreed, “It’s common sense to have a backup and I believe every automaker takes that into account in their design.”

It should be noted that not every car with a push button start has this feature, not even every Mercedes.

However, if you have a Mercedes why not check this out and it might save you one day.
