Movie by Stephen King and DC Mike Flanagan is nearing completion

In 2014, Stephen King published one of the most well-received novels of the decade, “Revival”. The film revolves around the relationship between charismatic Methodist healer Charles Jacobs and struggling addict Jamie Morton. The healer claims to heal Jamie from his debilitating heroin addiction, but it comes at an increasingly terrible price. Tapping into heavy themes like the afterlife and religion, the novel seemed perfect for Flanagan to adapt to the screen.

And for a while, he had to do it. He officially signed on to adapt the novel in 2020 for Warner Bros., but for unknown reasons, the project ended later that year. Since the original novel is heavily oriented towards the Lovecraftian universe and horror, it may require a large budget beyond what was originally agreed upon. This also explains why other adaptations of the novel, including Josh Boone’s attempt with Russell Crowe, met similar fates. However, /Film’s Eric Vespe did have an insight into the extremely bleak tone of Flanagan’s release in 2021. Movie by Stephen King and DC Mike Flanagan is nearing completion
