Movie quote you got WRONG – proves the weird ‘Mandela effect’ really exists

THINK you know your movie quote? Think.

You will be surprised by how many people are wrong.

And there’s a reason for it, too, and it’s called the Mandela effect. But before explaining, let’s take a look at the movie lines that are notoriously misquoted.

Star Wars

One of the biggest moments in the series was when Darth Vader revealed himself to be Luke Skywalker’s father.

The most commonly used line is: “Luke, I’m your father.”

But this is wrong.

In fact, what Darth Vader said was, “No, I’m your father.”

When the Evil Queen asked her mirror who was the prettiest of them all, you’d think she said ‘mirror’ twice, wouldn’t you.

Well, wrong.

What we think she said was, “Mirror, mirror on the wall, who’s fairest of them all?”

But in reality, she said: “Magic mirror on the wall, who is the fairest?”

Wizard of Oz

Another quote people like to use when in an unfamiliar situation is from The Wizard Of Oz.

We think Judy Garland said to her dog, Toto, “I don’t think we’re in Kansas anymore.”

But that’s not accurate – what she’s really saying is, “Toto, I have a feeling we’re not in Kansas anymore.”

Have you ever said, “We’ll need a bigger boat” when something can’t be raked?

However, that famous line is not the actual line of Sheriff Jaws’ Brody.

What he’s really saying is: “You’re going to need a bigger boat.”

What is the Mandela Effect?

So why do our memories fool us like this, we hear you say.

Well, some believe it is due to something called Mandela influence, where a large group of people remember things incorrectly.

It happened in 2010, when people online learned that Nelson Mandela had died in prison in the 80s.

But that’s completely wrong – he was released in 1990.

Mandela did not die until 2013.
