Ed Sheeran proved he’s still just a regular guy when he headed to his local curry restaurant for an after-show meal after performing for the Queen over the weekend.
The millionaire singer and songwriter has sparked an appetite after performing in front of millions on stage at Buckingham Palace for the Platinum Jubilee concert.
The 31-year-old reached out to his local Indians after he went to the palace and ordered his favorite dish – the £9.55 chili masala tikka, with rice and naans – from Cafe India near his home in Framlingham, Suffolk.
The star, who has just become a father for the second time, called to order and was asked to come by the restaurant manager Belal Mintu, who said he knew Ed sometimes sent someone else to pick it up.
Belal claims Ed is a longtime and loyal customer who orders takeout from Cafe India 10-15 times a year and has been doing it for over a decade.
“He’s been a regular customer for over ten years; he loves our curries, and he’s very, very friendly,” Mr. Mintu said.
He added: “We’re so proud of him; if you see him in person, you’d never realize he’s a superstar if you didn’t know him.
“Since the beginning of September 2008, not only he came, but the aunts, mothers, fathers and they all regularly come and eat at the restaurant.
“I saw on BBC News he said he was going home to see his daughter and have a curry after his jubilant show. I thought he would come here.

“When he called, I asked if he could come get the curry because sometimes he doesn’t come by himself. He said there was no problem and went down and was happy with the picture.
“But he said he was very tired and left afterwards; he took the curry and went.”
Bilal said what he loves about Ed is that he “hasn’t changed a thing” since becoming famous – and claims that he still makes time for his childhood friends.
Ed performed for the Royal Family after Sunday’s carnival procession. He dedicated a beautiful rendition of the song ‘Perfect’ to the Queen and her late husband Prince Phillip.
Videos of the king and her family were shown on the big screen behind Ed as he sang.
