LEADING multinational companies and public sector organizations are now recognized as the most attractive employers for professionals working in Ireland.
The Index of Most Attractive Employers, gathering insights from over 10,000 professionals in Ireland, was carried out by Universum, part of IrishJobs.
The index revealed that technology giants and international pharmaceutical companies are considered the most sought-after employers.
Google maintained its leading position among economists and ranked second among IT professionals.
Apple and Microsoft were also in the top 10 for IT, engineering and business professionals.
Pfizer took first place among both engineers and natural scientists, thus occupying the same position as in the previous year. Intel and Glanbia also ranked high in this cohort.
Dell moved up 24 spots in the rankings this year, with growing interest from those working in a commercial or economics position.
Parastatal and public agencies have emerged as popular employers this year, with the public sector and HSE now making the top 20 most attractive employers.
An Post, which was new to the index in 2022, ranked seventh among business and business professionals, while it ranked ninth among IT professionals.
Irish professionals also seek a competitive base salary, good work-life balance and flexible working arrangements when considering working with a new employer.
Women prioritize work-life balance, followed by flexible working, while men prioritize finances and job security.
The research shows a 16 percent pay gap between women and men, with the highest pay gap in the IT sector.
With the growing acceptance of flexible working as the norm, Irish workers are now more interested in remote work than they were last year.
General concerns about remote working have also been allayed, as professionals are now less worried about missing social contact or being left out of meetings than they were last year.
“With many well-known names leading the way this year, particularly multinationals and public entities, it’s clear that at a time of heightened economic and geopolitical uncertainty, professionals are interested in working for established organizations that have the resilience to withstand change and volatility and offer professionals their most desirable attributes, including competitive salaries, good work-life balance and flexible working arrangements,” said Steve Ward, Business Director, Universum UK and Ireland.
