The mother reportedly slipped on a loose tile as she walked across two balconies to gain access to her apartment
A woman died after falling from her flat balcony while her children waited in the car below, sources say.
Janetina, 36, was about to go on holiday with her children when the horrific accident happened at a block of flats in the Pagrati district of Athens, Greece, she reported The sun.
As the family prepared for the holiday, the mother-of-two realized she had left one of her children’s bags at her apartment and rushed upstairs to get it. When she found her door was stuck, she asked her neighbor if she could hop onto her balcony to get in — something she did regularly with no problem.
Tragically, Janetina reportedly slipped on a loose tile before falling 50 feet into a yard behind the apartment block. Paramedics were there and took the mother to the hospital, but she could not be resuscitated.
Neighbors said Janetina left with her children and an aunt to meet her husband on the Greek island of Naxos.
Community members told local media their sadness and shock at the accident, which left two children without their mother.
Tributes were posted on social media, with comments lamenting the “tragedy of fate” and the “mistake that took her life.”
