A mother has admitted to murdering her young son who died in hospital.
Police raced to a house in Guisborough, North Yorkshire on February 2 after raising concerns about two-year-old Daniel Hodgson Green.
He was taken to the hospital and sadly later died, Cleveland Police said at the time.
Carol Hodgson, 39, of Guisborough, has been charged with murder and pleaded guilty at a brief hearing at Teesside Crown Court.
She was taken into custody and will be sentenced on July 15.
No details of the offense were discussed during the 10-minute hearing.
Investigating Officer Detective Inspector Matt Hollingsworth said: “Today our thoughts are with Daniel’s family.
“The loss of Daniel at such a young age is unimaginable.
“I want to thank the entire team who worked on this harrowing investigation and ensured we were able to bring this matter to justice.”
Christopher Atkinson, chief of the Crown Court Unit at CPS North East, said: “During the course of this case, the prosecution worked closely with our colleagues at the Cleveland Police.
“Through the extensive evidence she presented, prosecutors were able to clearly establish the tragic sequence of events culminating in Daniel’s death.
“In response to a robust case against her, Carol Hodgson has now pleaded guilty to the murder of Daniel and we sincerely hope that those who knew Daniel will find some comfort in this at what continues to be a very difficult time for her. “
After the infant’s death, around 100 people, including family members and friends, gathered in front of the property with flowers, balloons, candles and stuffed animals to pay their respects.
A sad tribute read: “RIP little man. Gone, but not forgotten.”
Neighbors at the scene spoke of their dismay at Daniel’s tragic death.
One person said: “It’s such a shame. Two is so young he had his whole life ahead of him.”
