A homemade solution that includes common household ingredients could weed your paths and patios for a fraction of the cost of a name-brand weed killer

One woman thinks she’s found an inexpensive way to keep weeds at bay.
With the hot weather of late creating the perfect excuse to spend time outdoors, gardening has become a priority for many.
While most people enjoy tending their piece of nature, there is one job that most of us dread – weeding.
Not only are weeds unsightly and time-consuming to remove, but they can also be expensive, although they can quickly ruin the look of a garden if allowed to run wild.
However, there is hope with the Reporting by the Manchester Evening News This one woman shared her tip on how to do it cheaply to help her mom. And the cost was just £1.18.

Sharing it on a money-saving Facebook group, she said she came across the instructions on how to make it yourself at home using just a quart of white vinegar, three large spoons of salt, three large spoons of dish soap, and a spray bottle.
As her mum already had most of the ingredients, which are common household items, she simply bought two 59p bottles of vinegar from Home Bargains and that was all she needed.
“My mom was talking about the weeds growing between the flagstones on her driveway and path,” the woman said. “Couldn’t sleep last night so I started googling.
“Stumbled across this website that describes how to make your own weed killer at home. Bought the vinegar from Home Bargains (59p for 500ml) and she already had the rest of the ingredients needed.

“£1.18 is all it cost and after using it on Sunday she said it was the best weed killer ever! I hope this helps someone.”
And the good news for anyone who wants to try it is that you can get white vinegar for an even cheaper price.
Aldi sells 568ml bottles for just 32p, while Tesco is even cheaper at 29p.
With many brands of over-the-counter weedkiller costing upwards of £5 a bottle, the savings from do-it-yourself could be significant.
