A mum has told her haters to “let people live” after claiming her kids are “ashamed” of her just because she has tattoos and pink hair.

Gwenna Laithland from the US posted a video on TikTok listing some of the common things people say to her as an “alternative mom” who loves her tattoos, dyed hair and piercings.

And while most of us understand that the way you look or express yourself doesn’t affect how you raise your kids, some of Gwenna’s biggest critics don’t seem to have this memo.

In fact, one of the most bizarre comments trolled that Gwenna “doesn’t look like a mother.”

The woman posting under the username @mamakusseShe wrote, “Things I’m told as an alternative mom with dyed hair, piercings and tattoos.”

She then listed the comments, which included “You’re setting a terrible example for your kids, they’ll want the same,” “You don’t look like a mother,” and “Your kids will be ashamed you look like that.”

Gwenna also claimed that she is regularly told that with piercings and tattoos she “will never be able to get a good job”.

And in the caption, she wrote, “Seriously it’s 2022. How do we still have these convos?”

She was even told she doesn’t “look like a mother”

The mother further slammed her haters in the video’s comments, where she begged them to “let people live” and said there was nothing wrong with her kids wanting to dye their hair as long as it’s done safely.

She said, “First how… why, beast? let the people live And yes, my kids want dyed hair. Hair chalk is magical for her.”

The video’s commentators were quick to defend Gwenna from further negative comments, with many of them praising her for raising her children to be accepting of people from all walks of life.

One person said: “I still can’t get over the fact that once you become a parent people just expect you to lose all feeling for yourself.”

While another added: “I really don’t see why it matters. That’s none of your business.”

And a third wrote: “You show your kids who they are. Keep it going!”

There were also comments from some who had dealt with similar negativity as they shared their own experiences with people who felt the need to comment on their parenting.

Someone said, “I had a wife who told me my mother was ashamed of me. My mom has tattoos and used to have piercings, and we both dye our hair fun colors.”
